Outcomes

Every 5 years, the Department of Health does statewide oral health screenings. The screenings result in a Smiles Survey report. The 2015 Smile Survey report shows:

  • Untreated tooth decay declined by 41%.
  • Sealants increased by 46%.

Healthy people 2020 objectives for kids ages 6 to 9 years:

  • Decrease untreated decay to 26%.
  • Increase dental sealants to 28%.
